Get Paid For Your Writing Talents
81On your marks, get set...Write!
One day later, after numerous rewrites, hair pulling incidents and kicking the cat, your masterpiece is ready. This must be your best work yet. In fact, if your article is a painting, it will probably be on par with a Picasso. How much can you sell it for, you wonder?
Well, you are in luck!
I have compiled a list of sites on which you can sell your articles or get paid for writing. While there are many sites on which you can sell your writing, I also included sites which will compensate you in other ways as well.
List of Paid to Write Sites
About.com - This site is a good choice for serious writers. If you are a recoginized expert in your field and you can back it up, check out this site. The pay is excellent and will increase as you add more content and your readership goes up. Date added: 15 Oct 2008. Last checked: 15 Oct 2008.
Associated Content - Associated Content can be a good source of income if you are from the United States. They accept all kinds of content, from video, audio and images to written content. You can be offered a price, typically $1 to $20, for each piece. Even if you are not from the States, you will be paid "performance payments" of about $1.50 per thousand page views of your content, which can increase up to $2.00 per thousand page views as your content gets more views. Date added: 15 Oct 2008. Last checked: 04 Apr 2009.
Bukisa - This site used to pay for unique views of your content. But due to abuse, they have decided to switch over to displaying AdSense or Chitika ads. You earn by having your AdSense or Chitika ads displayed when your content is viewed and they earn by taking a cut of your impressions. For AdSense, their cut is 40% of your impressions. Date added: 03 Aug 2009. Last checked: 07 Jul 2011.
ChaCha, Just Call, Just Test, Just Ask - Another unique site in which you are paid to answer customer's questions about practically anything under the sun, or transcribe audio into text, or evaluate questions for appropriate actions to be taken. A good command of English, and fast typing are generally required. You need to be authorized to work in the US and have a US mailing address. Date added: 15 Oct 2008. Last checked: 15 Oct 2008.
ConstantContent - You publish your articles and set your own price. You can control how the article is licensed, from free to usage to unique to full rights. Of course, the more comprehensive the license, the higher the price. ConstantContent takes a cut from the sale for its services. Date added: 15 Oct 2008. Last checked: 15 Oct 2008.
DayTipper - This site is unique in that it only looks for very short pieces of a single paragraph each. These pieces will be bits of useful information concerning mostly day to day issues. You submit your tip and if accepted for publication on site, you get paid! Date added: 15 Oct 2008. Last checked: 15 Oct 2008.
Helium - Another site where you can submit articles and you get paid by the number of times your article is viewed. It has a unique rating system in which users rate articles, and the higher rated articles will get viewed more often. There is also a marketplace in which you can get freelance work. Date added: 15 Oct 2008. Last checked: 15 Oct 2008.
HubPages - This very page that you are reading is hosted on HubPages. HubPages is one of the more unique sites in that it combines affiliate marketing, pay-per-click ads, social networking along with elements of microblogging into a single site. In short, you publish your article, HubPages will include other ads with your article (you get 60% of the ads' impressions), and you make money when the ads get clicked or make a sale. Date added: 1 Jul 2009. Last checked: 1 Jul 2009.
Online Writing Jobs - At this site you can search among thousands of help wanted ads seeking freelance writers. Categories available include copywriting jobs, magazine writing jobs, article writing jobs, book writing jobs, proofreading jobs, travel writing jobs, technical writing jobs and more! Date added: 20 Oct 2008. Last checked: 20 Oct 2008.
ReviewStream - Get paid for each review published. You can review practically anything although reviews about electronics, travel, hotels and medicine are more in demand. As of this writing, they are paying $2.00 for each review and every vote on your review gets you another $0.10. Date added: 15 Oct 2008. Last checked: 15 Oct 2008.
Conclusion
This is just a small snapshot of the sites available. I will be updating this hub as and when I find a new site so do check back. If you know of a site not listed, give me a shout. If I accept it, I will include your referral ID as well, if applicable.

Very valuable information here for writers. Thanks for sharing this Hub. Feel free to see how I continue to try to help others in new ways too. Sincerely: Gary Eby, author and therapist.
So many sites to write. Good review and would check them out.
Thank you for doing the research to find these sites and to explain what they focus on and how much they pay. We writers are generous people willing to share -- and on the internet, there is enough to go around! Thank you so much, wandererh
Wow! I thought I had heard of all the writing sites, but there are a few on here I've never heard of and will definitely check out. Thanks for another informative hub!
Thanks for the great tips.
Valuable information. Thanks.
Sigh! That's exactly what's bothering me right now!
Pretty interesting thought! Perhaps from now on the focus of space exploration should be on planets offering wi-fi:-)
Wandererh, If I could afford it, I'd rather check in at the Waterfront Hotel in Singapore! :)
Very kind of you, Wanderh. I am looking forward to my fourth visit to the Lion City. I really like the Waterfront Hotel in Havelock Road. I am sure you like it too! Take care.:)
hey wandererh, nice list and pretty unique , too! Makes a change from the normal article sites I'm used to , can't wait to try them out.
thanks for the great guide. Unfortunately, thisisby.us is no longer with us.
One of the best hubs I have read on the topic. Good work.
I'm new around here. I have bookmarked this & I am going to refer to it. So far, hubpages people have been most generous and kind! I'm really enjoying it (even though I haven't made a dime yet)!
Good information.
Great hub! Thanks for all the info. Hubs like this one are very useful to people setting off as writers on the net. Rated up and bookmarked!
A few interesting ones I'd not yet heard of, I don't think. Time to check them out. Thanks.
Great and informative article. hope I could make some use of it.
Thanks for the valuable information. I will also send you info on a few more sites for writers. The big question is - which is best - to stay with one or to and build your articles? Or spend the same amount of time writing fewer articles but covering more sites?
Useful recommendations and tips. I use a some of the sites recommend but as Vocalcoach suggests there are a few more sites that recuit freelance writers you could add to your list, as well as up-date some of the links 2010 status.
Thanks

Thanks wandererh for your inputs to this community. Going through your network of hubs sure means that you practice what you preach unlike some. Writers like you have made writing worth the while and something that should be taken very serious. I got your article "unusual ways to make money online" (not sure if I got the title right) on digg.com and stumbleupon. I hope to digg more of your interesting hubs as time progresses. Thanks man!
Wandererh,
Thanks for this list of sites that pay for writing. I think many us like to get paid for our work. Thanks again.
Very well researched and well written hub with lots of excellent information. Nice writing style too!
Hi, I am new to Hubpages. I may need some of your help. I am still skeptical if I should use Hubpages for my blogs because I do not see where Hubpages pays us through paypal.
Just an update, Bukisa no longer pays through paypal, they were bought by EzineArticles.com. I guess that's the name of the company who bought them. The only way you can earn through them is by having a Google Adsense account. I have blogs with Bukisa but my earnings they are now dead earnings because I do not have a Google Adsense account yet. So I am scouting for a new blog area for my blogs. I am thinking about Hubpages or Triond, I am still choosing which one. Please comment. Thank you also for a very informative research you did on this article.
hey, thanks for your reply. I hope they will launch a real competitive program that would lure more hubbers through hubpages.
yep, I hear ya! We'll wait and see. Are there other blog sites that you can recommend where we can earn directly? I mean an updated one that is still working until now. I have read a lot of very encouraging forums regarding experiences of receiving good earnings. However, when I look at the dates, these were posted like 3 or 4 years ago. The programs they have mentioned may have been discontinued already.
Thank a lot for a list of places to write to get paid. I have clicked on some of your links and even signed up for Day Tipper and already submitted a tip. I didn't know about it before.
Yes, I signed up for three (3) of them: Day Tipper, Helium, and About.com. I had never heard of them before or had not paid attention to them. As soon as I signed up for Helium, I was doing research and came across a Helium article. I need to start receiving some earning for the amount of time I am putting into this. I love writing on HubPages, but I haven't earned very much at all. Any suggestions?
Ok. Put the two cents in my Google account. (smile)
Yes, that is a good idea about writing a lot of hubs about a topic and linking them. I have done this with several series.
I am loving DayTipper. I have submitted a tip everyday since I read about it in your article. That doesn't take much effort at all.
